Authentic Alsace wines

From the traditional wine to the Grand Cru

Authenticity is the key word at the Domaine Jacques Iltis & Fils. We are proud to offer wines that enhance the outstanding terroirs of Alsace and its quality grape varieties. The harvest is done exclusively by hand across the entire estate, reflecting our commitment to quality and attention given to every grape. That is why each wine is a true reflection our dedication to excellence.

The winemaking process combines tradition and innovation using both oak casks, a testament to the legacy of past cooper generations of coopers, and stainless-steel tanks, in to guarantee the optimal expression of the wines. Ageing on fine lees brings our wines an additional texture and complexity.

An outstanding Red Pinot Noir

A must from Domaine Jacques Iltis & Fils

For the Pinot Noir we pay special attention to the communal appellation Saint-Hippolyte Rouge. After a maceration period of up to three weeks, the wine starts ageing in our oak casks for one or two years to reach its full maturity.

Coming from a sandy-granitic sunny terroir, the Saint-Hippolyte Rouge are the jewels of the winery. There are rich and delightful wines that reveal their full complexity over time.

The exceptional Grands Crus

from Domaine Jacques Iltis & Fils

The terroir Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim is located at the heart of a geological fault zone, where hard Jurassic limestone meets Lias marls. These formations have created a red clay-limestone soil rich in calcareous rocks. The south exposure, the distance from the Vosges mountain range, and the steep slope create a warm, temperate microclimate ideal for over-ripening.

The Grand Cru Kanzlerberg is the smallest Grand Cru vineyard of Alsace (3.4 ha). It is located in the commune of Bergheim, to the west of the Grand Cru Altenberg, offering a south-west exposure. The very heavy, clay-limestone soil is composed of gray marl, Keuper black gypsum marl and limestone from the Muschelkalk.

The wines of Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim and Grand Cru Kanzlerberg are powerful and full-bodied, for ageing. As much as the grape variety, it is the imprint of the clay-limestone terroir that makes these Grand Crus unique and excellent gastronomic wines. Terroir and pleasure!
